Classical antecedent: Zuo Gui Wan, Er Zhi Wan, Liang Di Tang
Indications: Heavy menstrual bleeding during the period itself and not so much outside the normal period time, bright-red or scarlet-red blood, nightsweating, a dry throat at night, dizziness, tinnitus, backache, depression, a feeling of heat in the evening, malar flush, dry skin and hair.
Pattern:
Yin deficiency, Empty-Heat.
Action:
Nourish Kidney-Yin, clear Empty-Heat, stop bleeding. Tonify Qi and Yin to stop excessive menstrual bleeding.
Tongue: Red without coating or with rootless coating. It may also be without coating but normal-coloured if there is no Empty Heat.
Pulse: Floating-empty.
