TCM actions: Quickens the blood and dispels stasis, moves the qi and stops pain

Formula explanation: Within this formula, Xiang Fu, Wu Yao, and Zhi Ke move the qi and dispel stagnation, while Dang Gui, Tao Ren, Chuan Xiong, Dan Pi, Chi Shao, Hong Hua, Wu Ling Zhi, and Yan Hu Suo quicken the blood and dispel stasis. In addition, Chuan Xiong and Yan Hu Suo treat both the qi and the blood at the same time and both also are well known for their empirical ability to stop pain. Dang Gui also nourishes the blood so as to prevent damaging the blood by over-attacking and over-draining. Chuan Xiong and Gan Cao regulates and harmonizes all the other ingredients in the formula.
