Indications:
Painful periods with pronounced abdominal distension. The pain may occur also a short time before the onset of the period. There may also be irritability, moodiness, depression, irregular cycle and possibly premenstrual tension, hypochondrial distension and pain and sighing.
Indications in Chinese Medicine:
Pattern: Stagnation of Qi.
Actions: Pacify the Liver, move Qi, eliminate stagnation, nourish Liver Blood, stop pain.
Tongue: Normal coloured or slightly red on the sides. It may also be pale, if there is pronounced Liver Blood deficiency. The tongue body may be pale on the whole, but slightly red on the sides.
Pulse: Wiry on the left and weak or choppy on the right. The pulse may also be choppy on the whole and only very slightly wiry, if Liver-Blood deficiency is pronounced.
