Classical antecedent: Qing Re Zhi Beng Tang Clearing Heat and Arresting Flooding Decoction.
Indications:
Heavy menstrual bleeding that either starts suddenly with a flood or goes on trickling after the normal period time or both, bright-red or dark-red blood, mental restlessness, agitation, insomnia, thirst, a feeling of heat, flushed complexion, skin rashes; this patient may develop a red rash on her neck as she speaks.
Indications in Chinese Medicine:
Pattern: Blood Heat.
Action: Cool Blood, stop bleeding.
Tongue: Red with red points on the sides, yellow coating.
Pulse: Overflowing, rapid.
